Unrecorded Spirits: Life in Mayan Guatemala is a film conveying the experience of the Mayan K’iché in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. Epidemiological and anthropological research and experience covering years have resulted in an unprecedented degree of access to this region and its people. The film builds on this research and experience by collaborating and presenting stories directly from the people throughout the society, as wells as including Mayan ceremonies and practices for the very first time. Filming from the Day of the Dead until the End of the Mayan Calendar in 2012, the end of a 5,000 year wait, Unrecorded Spirits: Life in Mayan Guatemala is an exploration of the Mayan people and environment in a singular time in their existence.
